Elmore Magazine was kind enough to preview the video shot by PB & Jay Records of my new song, ‘In Waves.’ They said, “Befitting the expressive, powerful character of her voice, the acoustic video for Sarah Blacker‘s “In Waves” is uniquely intimate and stark.”
The super cool blog, I Am That Girl recently interviewed me about my new album.
Their tagline: “A community, a support system, and a movement inspiring girls to LOVE, EXPRESS, and BE who they are.” So honored to be a part of their series!
They said, “In Waves is a departure from Sarah’s previous projects, both sonically and lyrically. The album is a mix of influences from Americana to soulful pop, and the lyrics are incredibly honest and personal.”
Some more great press has come in for ‘In Waves’ and the Cross Country tour I’m currently on! Grateful that folks are enjoying the new music!

“The record is filled with skillful rhythm guitar, piano and ukulele, and sung with a uniquely soulful voice which is much bigger than the size of the artist it comes from. Read on

Elmore Magazine previewed ‘It Shows’ & said: “Showcasing Blacker’s sugary vocals, featuring both a smooth soprano and equally appetizing alto, “It Shows” is a gorgeous ukulele serenade set to relaxing and romantic tropical instrumentation…“It Shows” is a lush vacation into Sarah Blacker’s voice, heart and mind.”
The Big Takover previewed ‘Break Out’ & said: “In Waves artfully spans rock, pop, indie folk, and Americana, fused together with her signature vocal sound and stacked vocal harmonies. We hope you enjoy this as much as we do!”
And the Boston Herald called the two opening tracks of the album, “two of the sharpest, smartest, most staggering songs of 2015″ !
They said: “Blacker plays guitar, ukulele, and piano, infusing her indie folk tunes with a soulful, pop-tinged sensibility. Blacker gets rather rootsy, sounding a bit like Amanda Shires in the process.”
Boston- based music blog, MusicBoxPete had some things to say about the new album too!
“I was blown away with what I heard from Sarah … what sets her apart from her contemporaries is her musical diversity, and her ability to dabble in other genres and tempos that shows off her true staying power. An immense talent that we’re guaranteed to hear more from in the future.”
The Patriot Ledger previewed my Plymouth, MA CD Release Party and said,
“The new album rocks harder than anything she’s ever done, and has the kind of instantly identifiable band sound that makes it cohesive from start to finish…Blacker is in control of her alto-soprano vocals, and more important, confident in her songwriting voice…Over the years, Blacker’s writing has also grown, from introspective, folkie-type numbers to the candid, emotionally raw declarations on “In Waves.”
“Sarah Blacker’s latest album In Waves combines winsome rock band approaches with Blacker’s naturally beautiful voice and lyrical aplomb. As a singer-songwriter, Blacker has created something that could raise her profile among those who work in the national music scene. Big things will surely happen for Boston’s Blacker once she circulates this In Waves CD at her many CD Release parties. In Waves will soon be filling the airwaves of college and local radio stations while receiving highly positive reviews and album Of The Year nominations.”
