This past weekend in Central PA was one of the best I’ve ever had in my life. From video interviews, documentary tapings and Chinese food, to songs about chainsaw injuries, Stephen King, and some of the most captive audiences I’ve ever met.
Thank you to everyone at My Rural Radio for making it all happen.
Stay tuned for videos from the Boondocks Club, and also Bistro 19 in York.
*also check out my facebook page for awesome photos taken by Matt Davis, and more.

While in PA, Randy from the York Dispatch met with Mike Males from
My Rural Radio and I to do a video segment titled,
‘York Online Radio Station Hits Big’ on what it all means. Check out the video of our goofy jingle, and some of ‘I’m Like a Train, My Lord,’ and more right here

the Fly Magazine, a Central PA nightlife newspaper did a nice write-up about my show/live documentary taping at the Boondocks Club in York Haven, PA.
They said, “Quirky, catchy songwriting, accomplished instrumentation and an alto twang that rides the pendulum seamlessly between tender lullabies and full-blown rock songs.” …Thanks mucho guys.

In other news, last night was an AMAZING show at the Middle East Upstairs for Patrick Coman’s song series, ‘For the Sake of Song.’ This series, typically held at the Armory in Somerville, was a fundraiser for Music Drives Us, Ernie Boch Jr.’s foundation to raise funds to provide music to children in need, for which I’m an Ambassador. stay tuned for awesome videos and photos from the event. I performed, ‘Old Man,’ and ‘A Man Needs a Maid,’ and I think they’ll be added to live show repertoire… yessir.

The Boston Globe previewed the show. To read the entire article, click here

The awesome Boston music blog, Boston Band Crush, also wrote about the show and said, “Sarah’s combination of astoundingly beautiful voice and playful stage persona is sure to win over any listener still capable of being moved by the art of music. After a Sarah Blacker performance you just can’t help be feel a little bit better about being alive.” Thanks guys :]

Music Scene: Sarah Blacker stays truer to herself on new CD – The Patriot Ledger - Jay Miller
“The most arresting song on the new album is “I’m Like a Train, My Lord,” which Blacker sings solo, with just her guitar. Blacker sings it as soaring folk-gospel, providing plenty of emotional power and uplift, yet uncovering all manner of exquisite subtlety in the melody. More striking still, while singing she’s also playing guitar with some delicate finger-picking lines that are equally stunning. It would be an impressive performance for either a guitarist or vocalist, but to have someone do both simultaneously is impressive.”

“Sarah Blacker’s new ‘Come What May CD’ stands up to repeated listening. She can keep a lot of elements together as her voice, with its persistent edge, forges everything into the song’s backbone. The emotion is in her lyrics and stories and she just lets her special voice caress the melodies. She doesn’t just sing her chorus, she finesses it.”

SB will be returning to ‘Citywide Blackout’ w/Max Bowen on February 25th for an interview and live performance. He says of her recent album,

“Sarah’s music has a relaxing power to it. You crank up the volume and let your mind float away on the music.”

Max Bowen chose SB as his number 1 choice of 2009 for his list in the Noise Magazine following the release of ‘The Only Way Out is Through.’ [click here] to check out Max’s awesome blog, and find out how to listen to the interview.

It was an AMAZING weekend filled with great comraderie, music, and fun. We are so grateful to have been a part of it, and can’t wait until next year’s festival. Lots of money was raised for the Children’s Miracle Foundation of PA too.

JUST 4 days left ’till the end of SB’s KICKSTARTER Project, and we’re almost there…but not quite. Please help spread the word by re-posting the link, and considering adding a few bucks to the cause. All efforts will be greatly repaid.
SB on KICKSTARTER
The album is in the vocal-tracking phase, but we still need your help to master, and reproduce the CD, so that everyone can have a copy in their hands. Just 15 bucks pre-orders the CD for you or a loved one.

While in PA, SB also stopped at the Lancaster Dispensing Company [known locally as the Dipco] to perform as a feature in their *Songwriter’s Showcase* Night.
The Lancaster Entertainment Newspaper wrote the following titled
‘R&R with R&R: Boston musician drops by Dipco’

“Tonight they’ll [PA songwriters, Steven Courtney and Leo DiSanto] be sharing the stage with Boston-based diva Sarah Blacker, who’s been described as “the perfect blend of Joni Mitchell and Ella Fitzgerald.”
Steven, Leo, we love you guys, but it’s hard to imagine you on the stage with Joni and Ella. Fortunately, we don’t have to imagine it. We can just be there.”
